TIMOTHY is a vigorous, cool-season, bunch-type perennial with stems larger than most grasses. It is very leafy and matures early. It is a good companion grass with most hay legumes and is a favorite for horses. It is high in fiber, especially when cut late. It is considered part of the standard mix for hay and provides quality nutrition for horses. Timothy hay is a staple food for domestic pet rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas. It works best for pastures in a rotational grazing program. It's also used for deer feed and provides good insect-feeding areas for turkeys. Timothy has a shallow root system that does not allow it to handle drought and heat stress very well. Seed in February 0 March and August 0 October at 6-10 lbs per acre with a depth of 0" to 0."
